==== Body
pmcPrimary cutaneous lymphomas (PCLs) are a heterogeneous group of neoplastic diseases in which dermatological examination plays the pivotal role toward a management which must be multidisciplinary by definition.

The entities included in the spectrum of PCLs have been revised many times in the last three decades and the WHO-EORTC (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer) classification of PCLs was more recently updated in 2018.

In the meantime, during the last few years new topical and systemic therapies have become available and new drugs are in the pipeline. In short, the field of PCLs is in a continuous evolution and updates are needed.

PCLs were the topic of a one-day multidisciplinary session at the National Congress of the Italian Association of Hospital Dermatologists (ADOI - Associazione Dermatologi-Venereologi Ospedalieri Italiani e della Sanità Pubblica) held in Riccione, Italy, in October 2022. During the session, the main Italian specialists in the field delivered lectures and shared their experience in an open discussion.

This special issue of Dermatology Reports summaries the lectures delivered at the Congress on PCLs, collected in a monograph, the first ADOI monograph dedicated to a specific theme. Others on other hot topics will follow. The aim of this monograph is to present in a digestible way the most recent advancements in the field of PCLs, targeting, in particular young dermatologists, pathologists and hematologists. It is our hope that the monograph could increase awareness on PCLs and could help achieving early and correct diagnoses improving patient treatment according to updated guidelines.

We thank all the authors for their contributions.
