pmcDès l’apparition en 2003, du Shanghai Ranking (https://www.shanghairanking.com/) pour la mesure de la performance universitaire, focalisé particulièrement sur l’excellence de la recherche scientifique, de nombreuses initiatives de renforcement des capacités des jeunes chercheurs en Sciences de la Santé, ont été développées au Grand Maghreb, dans les domaines de la Méthodologie de Recherche et de la Rédaction Scientifique [1, 2]

Sous le pilotage du Réseau Maghrébin Pédagogie-Recherche-Publication en Sciences de la Santé (PRP2S), en collaboration avec les Ministères de Tutelle de la Santé et de l’Enseignement Supérieur, les Facultés de Médecine, de Pharmacie et d’Odontologie, les comités éditoriaux des revues scientifiques et les Amicales des enseignants, des internes et des étudiants en Sciences de la Santé, une centaine de Master class a été organisée au Grand Maghreb (Monastir, Sfax, Sidi Bel Abbes, Bejaia, Constantine, Sétif, Nouakchott, Fès, Marrakech, Oujda, Casablanca,…) [ 3 - 5 )]

Citons l’exemple du «Projet d’Initiation à la Recherche et à la Publication des Internes» (PIRPI), organisé depuis une décennie, par l’Association des Médecins Internes du CHU Ibn Rochd du Casablanca (AMIC), en collaboration avec la Faculté de Médecine et de Pharmacie du Casablanca (Maroc) et le Réseau Maghrébin PRP2S.

Son programme en 2023 comprenait des apprentissages sur les outils de Recherche Bibliographique, du Référencement Documentaire, de Lecture Critique d’Article, de Bio Statistique et de Rédaction Scientifique.

Au cours du deuxième module du PIRPI’2023 (15-16 septembre), les participants avaient l’opportunité de consulter d’une part la dernière édition du Shangai Ranking, de la performance des 1000 meilleures universités au niveau mondial, dont particulièrement l’Université de Harvard (http://www.harvard.edu), et d’autre part la plateforme Research.com (https://research.com), ayant accordé la première position mondiale « Best Medicine Scientists » au Professeur Walter C. Willett (rang mondial= 1 , rang national= 1).

Cette nouvelle distinction du Professeur Willett, de l’université de Harvard, s’est basée sur les données bibliométriques actualisées au mois de décembre 2022, ayant notifié un bilan de plus de 2500 publications médicales scientifiques, citées environ 550 milles fois.

Elle a été, encore une fois, le couronnement d’une carrière professionnelle et académique, de plus de 40 ans, consacrée à l’avancement des connaissances dans divers domaines dont particulièrement l’Epidémiologie, la Nutrition, et la Santé publique, et en partenariat avec des institutions de recherche de renommée mondiale.

Ainsi, dès l’information à la séance inaugurale du module PIRPI, du Best Scientist Award, les participants se sont précipités pour écrire au Professeur Willett, lui demandant de partager avec eux sa «sauce secrète» pour la promotion de la performance académique.

Après moins de douze heures, le correspondant du groupe PIRPI a reçu un courriel du Professeur Willett (champion scientifique mondial), prescrivant aux jeunes chercheurs en santé, une «Ordonnance pour l’Excellence» (Encadré 1).

Composée de quatre conseils précieux, cette ordonnance synthétisait une expertise et une sagesse, dans le domaine de la recherche.

● Recommandation 1: «Identify important questions»(Identifier les questions importantes)

Le point de départ de toute recherche scientifique est l’identification des lacunes des connaissances existantes (research gap) dont l’exploration aboutirait à soulager la souffrance des patients, de leurs proches, de leurs soignants et de la population générale, suite à une revue exhaustive de la littérature, à la consultation des seniors praticiens et à l’écoute des familles.

● Recommandation 2: «Gather good students and colleagues»(Rassembler de bons étudiants et collègues)

La recherche scientifique est un travail d’équipe, et les découvertes les plus significatives ne sont que le fruit de la collaboration entre des esprits brillants, suite à une écoute attentive de tous les acteurs et partenaires.

La pluridisciplinarité, l’échange et la coopération sont les pierres angulaires de la recherche et de l’innovation.

● Recommandation 3: «Work hard» (Travailler dur).

La recherche exige un engagement inébranlable, une persévérance constante et un dévouement sans faille.

Sa qualité est la résultante d’une planification détaillée et justifiée du protocole de recherche, d’une approche multicentrique et longitudinale, du grand effectif de la population d’étude, d’un schéma d’étude expérimental ou prospectif, d’une analyse statistique avancée, et d’une rédaction collégiale et soigneuse des résultats.

● Recommandation 4: «Be persistent if the topic is important » (Soyez persévérant si le sujet est important).

La plupart des chercheurs professionnels commencent pendant leur jeunesse, à se lancer dans des modestes études des «case reports», pour clôturer leur parcours scientifique par la planification, la coordination et l’édition des travaux de recherche synthétiques («revues systématiques» et «méta analyses»), aboutissant à la standardisation des «guidelines des bonnes pratiques», aussi bien en médecine clinique qu’en santé publique.

Suite à une discussion fructueuse entre les apprenants et leurs mentors, centrée sur cette «Ordonnance pour l’Excellence» du Meilleur scientifique en Médecine, une feuille de route de promotion de la publication médicale, au Grand Maghreb et en Afrique, a été établie.

Elle a été composée de quatre piliers fondamentaux de la performance académique:

1. Identification des pôles d’excellence en recherche scientifique, particulièrement en médecine, et aux autres domaines apparentés tels que les sciences fondamentales de microbiologie, de biologie, de biochimie, de génétique et d’immunologie.

2. Réseautage avec les champions de la publication scientifique, dans le cadre des unités et des laboratoires de recherche, en intégrant les projets de recherche multicentrique, pilotés par les leaders mondiaux de la publication scientifique (dont de la diaspora nationale).

3. Ciblage des thématiques pertinentes pour les populations locales, en se référant aux données actuelles de la charge globale de morbidité dans nos pays (problèmes de santé spécifiques, populations à risque,déterminants sociaux de la santé).

4. Appui à la mobilité avec le trépied de l’excellence en recherche médicale scientifique: pôles, champions, thématiques dont l’épidémiologie clinique /populationnelle, le Professeur Willett (Université de Harvard) et les «Maladies Non Transmissibles».

C’est ainsi que le Réseau PRP2S, ses points focaux dans les pays du Gand Maghreb et ses locomotives associatives et académiques, de «capacity building» en méthodologie de recherche et en rédaction médicale scientifique, s’orientent aujourd’hui de plus en plus vers le développement des «ponts» de transfert de l’excellence scientifique, avec les universités leaders en recherche, et les champions mondiaux de la publication, sur des sujets répondant plus aux besoins de santé de nos populations [ 6 ].
