pmc Dear Editor

we would like to share ideas on “Evaluation of Safety and Side Effects COVID-19 Vaccine in Cancer Patients Being Treated [1].” According to Aznab et al., the adverse effects were modest and manageable, and no substantial toxicity was recorded in individuals who were successfully vaccinated under the supervision of a medical oncology clinic [1].

We are all concerned that, while the COVID-19 immunisation is beneficial, it may also be harmful. SAT, vaccination recipients in the current trial may have side effects. However, no inferences can be drawn because there is no pre-vaccination information on vaccine recipients’ health and immunological status. The issue could be caused by a comorbidity in the patient [2]. Following immunisation, vaccination recipients may develop co-infections, which are misinterpreted as a negative outcome. Also, while Azab et al. did their best to exclude patients with active infection and those who had recently been infected with Covid-19, there is still a possibility of asymptomatic COVID-19, a common clinical problem [3], which could be another confounding factor in the observed post vaccination adverse event.

Dear Editor

The key to vaccinating cancer patients is to know what vaccines are safe for them. People with weakened immune systems should not get any live virus vaccine. The main concern in using licensed vaccines in this group of patients is how effective it will be in preventing infection. Due to the potential for life-threatening complications in cases of COVID 19 infection, the use of COVID 19 vaccine has been recommended in various oncology groups. American Cancer Society supports recommendation of Comprehensive National Cancer Network for Vaccination against COVID 19 Infection. There is no information on the side effects and effects of the vaccine as well as the immunological status of cancer patients in most phase III clinical trials. However, the side effects of the COVID 19 vaccine in these patients have been well tolerated in some studies. In our study, patients confidently tolerated two doses of the vaccine with minimal side effects. In our study, no patients with suspected symptoms of COVID 19 or active infection with other microbial agents were vaccinated. However, patients with asymptomatic Covid 19 may be misdiagnosed.
