pmc Dear Editor,

To the Editor, we would like to share ideas on the publication “ChatGPT: Friend or Foe? -Utility in Trauma Triage”.1 It would be beneficial to investigate ChatGPT's potential utility in trauma triage. Trauma triage is the assessment and prioritization of patients suffering from traumatic injuries in order to ensure that they receive adequate and timely care. ChatGPT, for example, could potentially help in this process by giving timely and precise information, allowing healthcare providers to make informed decisions and enhance patient outcomes. However, it is critical to understand the limitations and problems of utilizing AI in trauma triage.

Concerns include the necessity for trustworthy and up-to-date data sources, the possibility of bias in AI algorithms, and the importance of human monitoring and clinical judgment. Furthermore, the ethical consequences of primarily relying on AI in important decision-making processes should be explored. Future research and development should focus on validating ChatGPT's performance and dependability in trauma triage settings. This would need extensive testing and evaluation to verify that the AI system can manage the complexity and urgency of trauma cases properly. Collaboration among AI developers, healthcare practitioners, and regulatory agencies would be critical in developing norms and standards for the appropriate and safe use of AI tools in trauma triage.

Sensitive content shouldn't be produced, altered, or approved by AI if human review is an option.2 You can learn a lot about problems and solutions on ChatGPT. The ChatGPT findings imply that some of these datasets may contain erroneous assumptions or notions. Patients may receive false or misleading information as a result. Consider the ethical conundrums that using chatbots and AI in academic settings raises before moving on. The requirement for expert creation and human oversight of AI systems is not the least important requirement. To remove flaws, biases, and potential hazards, artificial intelligence systems must be continuously developed, tested, and monitored.
