pmcDear Editor,

We have gone through the article “Augmenting the spirit of research among nursing personnel: A narrative review,” recently published in your reputed journal.[1] Review article authors mentioned nursing students’ ability and their prospective towards research. We agree with the authors about their view. We also want to add some observations regarding the research potential of the nursing staff.

Nursing means to care. A noble profession that always cares not only for patients but also for doctors, hospital staff, patients’ relative, and many more. They not only assist clinicians in treating patient but they also have various huge responsibilities to work in the healthcare sector. The nursing staff is the person who directly contacts the patient and their relatives. They are always ready to respond to patients and their attendants and due to their responsive nature others also feel free to ask anything and clear their doubts. Nursing staff have to understand the doctors as well as the patient’s mentality and have to perform their best in their work.[2] Due to these roles and responsibilities, they have good potential to learn anything. Their passionate nature makes them more feasible people to be involved in and enroll in various activities. In each and every activity, whether medical, teaching, training, or many more, nursing staff play a key role in participation, management, and handling.[3]

Hospital infection control practices are the major task of the nursing staff in the current situation.[4] Various types of prevention practices and clinical trials are performed by various government and private organizations where daily reporting and continuous participant observation are required. A nursing person is always present near the patient/participants and only they can give the correct observation findings on the site. If they are trained properly about how and what to observe, they can perform their role without any hesitation. Clinical trials cannot be completed without nursing staff involvement. Unfortunately, the nursing staff is the most avoidable person for authorship trial publication.

Nursing students should need to train to develop their research-related perspectives during their study time. Through small activities and observation during their practical training session, their minds will be set toward the research.[5] Observation writing practice during the curriculum creates a spark in them about research-related potential. Various competitive tasks and activities with the proper guidance along with appreciation will help them reach their research potential. Without appreciation, they lose their interest and potential too.

We conclude that to spark their potential toward research during their study period. Their appreciation is necessary to get better and qualitative outcomes from the research activities.
