            "literature_evidence": "When considering progressive stages, 2 patterns were evident: (1) type 1 markers, showing consistently high levels of methylation in both gastric dysplasia and cancer (MINT25 and GDNF); (2) type 2 markers, showing high levels of methylation in early gastric cancer and gastric dysplasia but decreased levels in advanced gastric cancer (RORA, ADAM23, PRDM5, and MLF1). Of interest, use of the type 2 markers showed higher methylation levels in gastric dysplasia than in advanced gastric cancer (P < .001), which is consistent with our studies in ulcerative colitis and colon cancer. RORA and MINT25 were more hypermethylated in intestinal type GCs than those of diffuse type GCs, whereas CDH1 showed opposite patterns of methylation. [PMID:19375421]",
